I am here to tell you that if you do not vote TODAY. Then you are an idiot.
No, I meant that.... There are people who have FOUGHT for your RIGHT to vote..... There are people who have DIED for your RIGHT to vote.... You not going and taking a whole 5 minutes out of your day to make your voice heard is one way of pissing on their graves....
I don't care if you don't know anything about the candidates, I don't care if you just go in and write in Elmer Fudd's name for president. The point is that you VOTED.
For those of my friends who did vote. Thank you for exercising your right, and, for being a good American citizen.
For those of you who did not vote? Don't utter a word about prices, taxes, hell.. anything for that matter, cause your voice does not count cause you were too lazy to take 5 minutes out of your day.
For those of you who are not even registered? Give me a fucking break.. it's as easy as checking off a fucking box on your drivers license application... again, refer to the above... You have no say either... Live with what you get and like it.
This concludes my public service announcement. NOW GO VOTE!

Concerts
Aug. 5th, 2008 | 11:15 pm
mood:
excited
Thursday Aug 21
Daughtry
This should be a good show... It kinda sucks though that they are coming when they are though cause they HAD been touring with Bon Jovi....
Friday Aug. 22
Goo Goo Dolls, Gavin DeGraw
Should be a good show... I saw the Goo Goo Dolls a couple time sin concert already... The first time I ever saw them was before they were really all that famous at a night club in Syracuse..
Saturday Aug. 23
Journey/Heart/Cheap Trick
They have already sold more then 12,000 tickets for this show.... It's going to be a big crowd and.. hell.. I don't care if you are not really into this kind of music? Go to this concert and you will probably become a fan... Groups from a while ago, but, they still rock pretty good... Granted.. last time I saw journey they had a different lead singer... but, I'm willing to bet this new one is just as good....
Sunday Aug. 24
Def Leppard
Eh... Not really my kind of music, but, I'll know a couple songs and last time I saw them in concert they put on a pretty good show....
Monday Aug. 25
Brooks & Dunn/ZZ Top
Just this pairing is a little weird.... Never really would have thought Brooks and Dunn would be touring with these guys, but, hey, I have to put Brooks and Dunn up in the top 4 concerts that I have ever seen every time I have seen them (I think this will be my... 4th??)... Anyways... as with any of the country shows this year... It'll be a great show... The country concerts can turn a non country music person into someone who listens to it 24/7... They are BY FAR the best concerts to go to.... Trust me... Brooks and Dunn? Easily two of the best entertainers in the business....
Tuesday Aug. 26
Boston/Styx
Never seen Boston... But I saw Styx once before... the lead singer is weird as hell... all I remember is they had this song that I swear they played for 30 minutes straight... It dragged on and on and on... Actually... come to think of it... I don't think they STOPPED playing the whole time... it was like one big huge song....
Wednesday Aug. 27
Vanessa Hudgens/Corbin Bleu
with special guests Drew Seeley and Jordan Pruitt... Whoever they are....
Ummm... yeah... can't wait... sure... This will be one of the loudest concerts... all the little girls and boys screaming.. rupturing ear drums... etc... yeah... can't wait....
Thursday Aug. 28
Toby Keith
with special guests Carter’s Chord, Mica Roberts & Trailer Choir
If you have never been to a Toby Keith concert then you have not lived yet... This guy knows how to get the crowd going and his songs are pretty kick ass also.... If you don't have tickets already... go get them!
Friday Aug. 29
Jonas Brothers
with special guest Demi Lovato... Whoever that is... maybe she'll be good looking.....
What gets me about this show is that it's already sold more than 12000 tickets.... great... more little kids screaming and uugh... yeah... I hope it's a quick concert...
Sunday Aug. 31
Rascal Flatts/Taylor Swift
OK.... over 12000 tickets sold... but are they going to see Rascal Flatts or Taylor Swift? Taylor was freaking great opening for Brad paisley last year... and I gotta say she will kick ass again this year... (only difference is that she is legal now so I don't have to feel like a pervert when I drool... lol) Rascal Flatts.... eh... I've seen them about 4 or 5 times... and while I really like their music... I gotta say... The lead singer? sucks ass in concert... seriously... he sounds horrible in concert.... weird... maybe they'll prove me wrong this year... if not, I'll just be the guy trying to sing louder than him... lol

Look i know we been,
Been friends for a minute now
But i think it's time that we
We address the situation
I know how you feel
You know how i feel
I gotta say your a hell of a woman
Like a new drought in the summer
Pull me over the weather, when i'm under
Did you know you do that for me
And i wonder sometimes, why you been taking your time
I, know this gone be right
Girl i put that on my life
Girl you be giving me the coldest sholder
You don't want you emotions taking over
Steedy talking bout you looking for a solider
Are you trinna say you don't see that in me
I know that we're friends
But taking it there won't mess it up
I... know this gone be right
Please just trust in me, girl i got you can't you see
Babygirl it's killing me
Why you trinna act like you don't
Like you don't see what i see
You should be with me
It's your heart but before you give to someone
Someone who don't deserve it, just don't hurt it baby
Like a scene from my favorite movie
Hard to control myself when u next to me
If its against the law to love you then sue me
Girl this whole thing got me in disbelief
I know it takes time
To build somethin' thats worth while but
Just in case you didn't hear me i'mma say it again more clearly
(i need ya)
Like a bed need some covers
(i need ya)
Baby we need each other
(girl i need ya)
Like a comedian needs a joke
(i need ya)
Baby i need you the most
Baby... my hearts beatin'
Cant you hear it
If i'm the music
Your my lyrics
Babygirl its killin' me ...girl it's killin me...
Why you tryna act like you don't
Like u don't see what i see (ohh ohh ohh)
(you should be with)
You should be with me
It's your heart but, before u give it to someone
Someone who don't deserve it, just don't hurt it baby
(you should be with me)
I know your lookin' out for you
(but u gotta understand)
That i'm lookin out for us too
(ohhh ohhh ohhh ohhh)
So baby you should just give me your heart
And i swear i wont tear it apart, no...
Babygirl its killin' me ...girl it's killin' me...
Why you tryna act like you don't
Like u don't see what i see (ohh ohh ohh)
(you should be with)
You should be with me
It's your heart but, before u give it to someone
Someone who don't deserve it, just don't hurt it baby
(you should be with me)
Why you tryna act like you don't
Like u don't see what i see
(like you don't see it)
(you should be with)
You should be with me
It's your heart but, before u give it to someone
(baby it's your heart before you do with it what you want to ..)
Someone who don't deserve just don't hurt it baby...
i just wanna tell you... that...
(you should be with me)
Babygirl its killin' me ...ahay ohh ooh ohh ohh...
Why you tryna act like you don't
Like u don't see what i see
(you should be with)
You should be with me
It's your heart but, before u give it to someone ....
before you give it all away...
Someone just don't hurt it baby
(you should be with me)
Baby girl its killin' me...hey
Why you tryna act like you don't ...come on put your hands together...
Like u don't see what i see
(you should be with)
You should be with me
Its your heart but before u give it to someone ...
before you give it all away i just want you
To hear what i'm sayin'...
Someone who don't deserve it, just don't hurt it baby
(you should be with me)

Heat on volunteer firefighters
Wednesday, October 10, 2007
James Sherk
The Washington Times
You probably haven't heard Congress is about to shut down many of America's volunteer fire departments. Not intentionally, perhaps. Yet a little-known bill advancing through Congress would do just that.
Nearly 26,000 volunteer fire departments protect tens of millions of Americans and their homes from fires. Almost 3 in 4 firefighters in the United States are volunteers, and smaller towns and cities call on them for protection. A town with 3,000 residents simply cannot afford the expense of hiring full-time career firefighters. They rely on volunteers.
These volunteer departments are usually anchored by a core of professional career firefighters. Often they work in another city and volunteer to protect their neighbors in their off-duty hours. Volunteer firefighters risk their lives and sacrifice their time for their communities. Who would want to shut them down?
The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), that's who. The IAFF represents career firefighters. Volunteers who give their time and efforts to their communities allow many communities to do without full-time career fire departments. This means fewer jobs for career firefighters, and fewer dues-paying members in the union that represents them. So the IAFF does everything in its power to stop "two-hatters" from volunteering.
The IAFF constitution prohibits its members from belonging to a volunteer fire department. In the words of IAFF President Harold Schaitberger, the decision to volunteer is a personal choice, but "that personal choice is one that can have serious consequences under our Constitution." Union members who disobey face steep union fines that the courts will enforce. In some cities, the IAFF negotiates, on its members' behalf, contracts stating they will lose their jobs if they volunteer in off-duty hours.
The union's effort to ban volunteering is an assault on our civic fabric. Doctors who provide free care to the poor, lawyers who work pro bono for the disadvantaged, and firefighters who volunteer for their communities make America a better country.
Without career firefighters willing to give their time, many volunteer fire departments would have to close. Look at Connecticut. The IAFF negotiated "no-volunteering" clauses in the contracts of every major city there. Now many of the state's volunteer fire departments are having difficulty finding enough volunteers to protect their communities. Some cities have had to raise taxes significantly to hire career fire fighters — exactly what the IAFF intended.
Enter the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act, which would make it significantly easier for the IAFF to close volunteer fire departments. The bill, which passed the House and is before the Senate, has nothing to do with employer-employee cooperation. This bill requires every state and local government to collectively bargain with their police officers and firefighters, and to negotiate virtually every term and condition of employment. Those states that have decided collective bargaining doesn't meet their needs would have to do so anyway. States that limit what they negotiate would have to negotiate almost everything — including "no volunteering" clauses.
If this bill passes and forces every local government to collectively bargain with its firefighters, the IAFF's membership rolls will swell and the union will have enhanced powers to negotiate away the freedom of its members to volunteer. Many career firefighters who want to serve their community will lose the ability to do so, unless they want to lose their jobs.
Recognizing that concerns for volunteer firefighters could sink the bill, its supporters added a provision specifying that private sector collective bargaining agreements cannot prevent workers from volunteering. Since virtually every firefighter works for the government and not in the private sector, this actually does nothing to protect volunteer firefighters. But it sounds good.
Instead of adding meaningless provisions that do nothing to defend firefighters' right to volunteer, Congress should let local communities decide if collective bargaining is right for them. Many communities have decided it is. But others, concerned about how unions would attack their volunteer firefighters, have not.
Congress should not make it easier for the IAFF punish firefighters for volunteering to protect their neighbors.

The Grammys
Feb. 12th, 2007 | 10:30 am
The Dixie Chicks winning best Country? OK.. that is a joke for WAY too many reasons.. First off, lets take a look at who they were up against.. It made no sense! There was no Toby Keith, no brooks and Dunn, no Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, etc... All of these people who are actually popular in country music had albums in this past year and were not even nominated... Instead they throw Dixie Chicks in there with a couple people (Willie Nelson?? what??) who are not all that great so that they can get a win as best country album? What gets me though is that their song was the best song of the year?
I'm sorry.. The Dixie Chicks are not a great group.. The only reason.. Let me say that again.. the ONLY reason they are even as popular as they are is simply because of their big mouths badmouthing the US in another country... Which is exactly the reason true country music fans do NOT like them... Heck, other than countdowns, I can't even remember the last time I heard them on a country music station...
So why are they grouped as country? Because... It's a category they can easily win... It puts them up there on stage and gives them a mic cause people know they will say something...
Back tot he Grammys though... The fact that "the academy" chose these idiots to win so many awards just goes to show that politics can run or ruin anything... My take on it? A bunch of academy members are big time demos who hate Bush and therefore voted for the Dixie Chicks to win a bunch of awards... Cause, you know, everyone likes them and they are so great..
News flash.. They suck. The song that everyone is raving about was written in response to... well.. Everyone's turning their back on them cause of what they said in Europe about our country... and as they say in the song, they ar enot ready to apologize... so... fuck them.. and hopefully, next year, the grammy's will be more enjoyable than watching the 11,000 members of the academy voicing their political adgendas....

So, I get a reply back saying that it is a family thing, just her and her mom.
The fact that I have not heard Tresa on the radio is surprising... She has a great voice and one of her songs (Angels Cry) sounds really good.
So, ya'll, since we all know you are bored and looking for something to do here on livejournal as it is.. go and check her out, give her a listen, this is one artist who knows what it means to be hands on with her fans.

words of wisdom I guess
Aug. 21st, 2006 | 07:58 pm
1. If he's not asking you out, trust me, he's not into you. If he really like you, he would. If we want you, we will find you.
2. An excuse is a polite rejection. Men are not afraid of "ruining the friendship"
3. Don't get tricked into askinghim out, if he likes you, he'll do the asking.
4. If you can find him, he can find you. If he wants to find you, he will.
5. If he's not calling you, its because you are not on his mind.
6. If he creates expectations for you, and then doesn't follow through with little things, he will do the same for big things. Be aware of this and realize that he's okay with disappointing you.
7. Don't be with someone who doesn't do what they say they're going to do.
8. " Busy" is another word for "Asshole". "Asshole" is another word for the guy your dating.
9. If he's choosing not to make a simple effort that would put you at ease and bring harmony to a recurring right, then he doesn't respect your feelings and needs.
10. You deserve a fucking phone call.
11. Guys tell you how they feel even if you refuse to listen or believe them. " I don't want to be in a serious relationship" truely means " I don't want to be in a serious relationship with you" or " I'm not sure you're the one."( Sorry)
12. Better than nothing is not good enough for you!
13. If youdon't kno where the relationship is going, its okay to pull over and ask.
14. There's a guy out there who will want to tell everyone that he's your boyfriend. Quit goofing around and go find him.
15. Companionship is wonderful, but companionship with sex is even better. Call a spade a spade or more fittingly, a friend a friend, and go find a friend hat can't keep his hands off of you.
16. Your lost self esteem may take longer to find than a new boyfriend, so prioritize accordingly.
17. There is no excuse for cheating. Let me say it again. There is no excuse for cheating. Now you say it. There is no excuse for cheating
18. Your only responcibility is someone else's lapse in judgement is to yourself.
19. Cheating is cheating. It doesn't matter whom it was with or how many times it happened.
20. Cheating gets easier every time it's done. It's only hard the first time , when one feels the sting of morality and the guilt of betraying someone's trust.
21. Cheaters never prosper....(Because they suck)
22. A cheater only cheats himself, because he doesn't get to be with you.
23. It doesnt'tcount unless he says it when he's sober. An " I love you"( or any semblance thereof) while under the influence of anything stronger than grape juice won't hold up in court.
24. If he only wans to see you, talk to you, have sex with you, ect., when he's inebriated, it ain't love-It's sport.
25. Bad boys are actually bad.
26. You deserve to be with someone who doesn't have to get loaded to be around you.
27. " Doesn't want to get married" and " Doesn't want to get married to me" are very different things. Be sure which category he falls under.
28. Id you have different views about marriage, whatelse are you not on the same page about? Time to take inventory.
29. If you don't feel like rushing, why are you waiting?
30. Theres a guy out there that wants to marry you.
31. You can't talk your way out of a breakup. It is not up for discussion. A breakup is a definitive action, not a democratic one.
32. Breakup sex still means you're broken up.
33. Cut him off. Let him miss you.
34. He doesn't need to be reminded that you're great.
35. There's a guy out there who's going to be really happy that you didn't get back together with your crappy ex-boyfriend.
36. No answer is your answer.
37. Don't give him the chance to reject you again.
38. Let his mother yell at him. You're too busy
39. There's no mystery--He's gone and he wasn't good enough for you.
40. Life is hard enough as it is without choosing someone difficult to share it with.
41. You deserve to be with someone who is nice to you all the time. ( Yo have to be nice to them, too.)
42. There's never a reason to shout at someone unless they are in imminent danger.
43. Freaks should remain at the circus, not in your apartment.
44. You already have one asshole. You don't need another.
45. Make a space in your life for the glorious things you deserve.
46. Have faith. what other choice is there?
So here are some " Standard" suggestions:
1. I will not go out with a man who hasen't asked me out first.
2. I will not go out with a man who keeps me waiting by the phone.
3. I will not date a man who isn't sure he wants tp date me.
4. I will not date a man who makes me feel sexually undesirable.
5. I will not date a man who drinks or does drugs to an extent that makes me feel uncomfortable.
6. I will not date a man who's afraid to talk about our future.
7. I will not, under any circumstances, spend my precious time witha man who has already rejected me.
8. I will not date a man who is married.
9. I will not be with a man who is not clearly a good, kind, loving person.

July 1st.... What was going to happen.. oh yeah... I was supposed to get married today.... yeah that was before I had to break off the engagement...
So... to me, it was a very difficult decision to come to and it was hard for me to deal with... But what gets me is some people close to me can't accept that....
Tonight, I'm at the casino with my parents... and talking to my mom.. and I said to her.. "hey, you know what tomorrow is right?" she didn't know... so I told her.. yeah.. i was supposed to be getting married to Ivette.... Instead of being understanding or anything... my response? "what are you fucking infatuiated with her or something?".... now, there was nothing in that comment that inplied that.... It's not like I talk about her or anything... hell, where that even came from is beyond me.... I guess it was too much to ask for a little understanding that.. hey... Tomorrow (well, today), was supposed to be the first day of the rrest of my life with someone... To me, thats a big thing.. hell, it's something I have been waiting for all my life.
I dunno... Guess there are some things ya just can't talk to everyone about....
grrr.. that really kinda did make me angry... I mean I didn't show it or anything.. but I was kinda taken aback by the whole thing.. her response.. then her follow up comment "well, you were planning like 3 weddings so how was I to know"... it's stuff that we had gone and talked to.. well.. tried to talk to her about and she wanted nothing to do with it because she didn't like Ivette.... It was mainly (I think) a race thing even though she swears it isn't...
augh.. sometimes family pisses me off... Too bad everyone can't just ignore frickin colors and just live their lives... who does it matter? why was it an issue for me to date a black girl? why was it such a big deal? ... uugh.. not gonna think anymore into this crap... All I know is that if, by chance, the person who comes along is not white or whatever... then hopefuly my family can keep their.. hell i can't really say racist.. cause i don't think they are... so hopefully they can keep their ignorant views to themselves...... I take some of that back.. My dad was fine with everything... guess it's just the opinionated ignorant ones....
ok.. nuff about that... if it wasn't for the diet I'd ask who was buying and what bar...
Have a good one!

I have done a little research....
Taylor Hicks had an album out before... Just downloaded just about all the songs off of it on limewire.. Gotta say.. he sounds pretty good...
And Chris Daughtry, another one of my favorites, hada band and stuff back in NC... Him and his band have songs on limewire also... Search for Absent Element ... That is his bands name.
Good stuff man... they are both going to do well once out of the American Idol contracts!
